Laboratory Corporation of America Director - Patient Blood Management (Location is Flexible) in Burlington, North Carolina

LabCorp is looking for a Director to develop, manage, and maintain a national patient blood management program that aligns and delivers individual partnership objectives and improves evidence-based blood product utilization. This new role reports to the Sr. Director and may be located anywhere in the contiguous U.S. The Director will have the following primary responsibilities:

  • Develop broad strategies to inform and educate varying audiences on the benefits of patient blood management programs and industry best practices for the appropriate use of blood products as well as alternatives to transfusion

  • Collaborate with clinical laboratory and medical leaders to develop standard evidence-based policies and procedures that are patient-centered, enable optimal utilization, and reflect changes in transfusion practice

  • Establish a sustainable process to measure, analyze, and report key performance metrics related to transfusion safety, product utilization, and wastage

  • Oversee individual partnership programs to ensure alignment of goals, recommend strategies for improvement, and monitor program progress

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for blood management and transfusion best practices


  • Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences

  • 10+ years as RN/BSN or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS - ASCP or CLS - ASCP) preferred

  • Leadership background in clinical operations as well as expertise in transfusion best practices

  • Ability to develop and manage a strategic program that aligns and achieves partnership goals

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships and lead change in a large organization

  • History of leading cross-functional teams and completing major projects in a clinical setting

  • Ability to travel up to 75%
